Tug Of War - Miss Piggy And Spike

We have so much going on in our lives - I mean everyone not just our family. Besides our everyday lives work and home and family and life itself, our lives are filled with Social Media. Blogs - our own and others that we read;

We have Twitter - the only way I stay up to date with current news both local and overseas is by following Twitter Trends. I stopped reading News sites and just scan Twitter to keep up to date with Current news and read some not all otherwise it is too depressing. Then there is Facebook - I am not a big fan of Facebook - it is too personal, too much of a "Look who I am and what I have" false attitude, but I do have a profile that I hardly go on and only do to follow pages of interest and not people who I care not to know rather than to know.

Then there is Pinterest, which I love and love all those boards and cute puppy pictures and animals and quotes and just about everything, but I never find the time to go on it. Then there is my new found interest Instagram and 365 Project. I find the time to take a photo everyday, actually two - one for Instagram Photo A Day and One for 365 Project. I post my Instagram one straight away I just don't manage to then re-post it here. I also only get to post my 365 Project photos on the weekend. Some times the prompts for FMS Photo A Day are tough and I was hating it the other day until I threw out all the negativity and embraced the challenge of finding something to photograph - it is even harder without prompts and the other night I remembered about my 365 Project and took a photo of my bath water running - how lame is that, but I needed a photo, Chad and Mark were asleep, the house was all locked up and so the bath it was. On Friday I needed a photo of something funny. We worked until six, it was the end of a long week, I was tired and could not think of one funny thing. Mark and Chad went to buy dinner and I went to check on the garden to see which branches of which trees Rabie chopped down on Friday and next think Spike ran out to the "play area" with his old lead. Chad taught him a new game - sorry JW Bad Cuz balls, you are thrown out now - Spike has a new best toy - and THAT became my funny photo of the day.

Spike Waiting With His Toy
This game can't be played on his own or with someone just throwing a ball and Chad was not at home so his next bet was Miss Piggy and he waited patiently for her.

Almost Giving Up On Some Fun
He almost gave up because Chad was not there; I wouldn't drag him around and Miss Piggy was not coming - look how disappointed he looks, because she is just standing at the gate of the courtyard, but not coming to him.

Then she came up to where they always play (the lack of grass is testament to their daily games) and they played like wild dogs for about 10 minutes whilst I tried to take a photo for my Funny prompt - because they are just so funny. Look at the slide show to see how crazy they are - I know it should have been a video.

And then they stopped as abruptly as they started. Tired; exhausted and all played out. They don't go for walks, because Spike fights with other dogs and when Miss Piggy and Spike walk together, she becomes a monster, but we play with them everyday, there is no way we can not play with Spike because he barks and nags worse than a child. So although I hardly play with them these days, Mark and Chad do everyday, but I do believe Spike misses me playing with them and really enjoyed their game on Friday night.

More On Gardens & Grownups

Last night I ended up posting only some of what I was going to post and left out quite a bit - not because Chad and Mark came home right when I started blogging, but because I just forgot. Strangely enough they never had much to say about the Nitro Circus and I am not entirely sure whether it is because it was not as good as they were expecting it to be or because they respected and knew that talking about it would upset me and be just another reminder that Clint was not there to share it with us. I think it was a bit of both and although the show got excellent reviews I think the dust and dirt of Motor Cross is more exciting than watching a show. The stadium as you can see in the photo I posted last night, was rather empty. There were however, 25 thousand people at the show and the stadium can seat 65 thousand people. Mark was very impressed with the FNB Stadium, it is a pity they never took photos. Chad mentioned the guy in a wheelchair doing stunts and that is about all. They told me who they met at the stadium, who they saw, what they ate, but nothing about the actual show other than the people who sat next to them walked out half way because they were bored. It obviously isn't for everyone and because it is a show about bike stunts it attracts motorbike enthusiasts who then don't find it as exciting as actually riding a bike. One guy who Mark bumped into at the show, just came out of hospital on Friday night, hobbling on crutches, with injured lungs, ribs. pelvis and and and... from coming off his motor cross, he was on ICU until Friday morning then discharged so he could go to the show, because he was so looking forward to it and bought the most expensive tickets and did not enjoy it. He is an adventure freak, adrenaline junkie - sitting in pain watching another adventure freak must have made him wish he stayed in hospital.

My New Garden Ornaments
So last night I mentioned that we went to the nursery and forgot to post a picture of this really cute Hippo we bought for the garden. I know it is rather cheesy, but it looked so cute and so we bought it. The only animal that reacted when they saw it was Garfield - she spat at it and arched her back. The dogs ignored it like the inanimate object that it is. Garfield was not having another "dog" in her life. She is fine with it now - realizing that it is something she won't have to put him in his place like she has had to do with all the other animals. Miss Piggy was sitting next to it and looked so cute, but as we went to get a camera she ran off. Do you think she will sit like that again? Not on your life!!!

Hippo & Mark & Chad
I also found a better picture of the white Koi with dark blue and red. I want to call him Nemo, Chad says no, it looks nothing like Nemo and he thinks it is a female, because it won't leave Orange Monster alone.

Yesterday I also re-potted some plants my mother gave me before they moved to Ballito. The pots they were in looked a bit small. I also noticed that our patio furniture needs to be replaced. The legs have rusted. It seems like this year I have woken up from a fog of sleep caused from giving up smoking, plus years of tears from Clint's death and noticed a lot if things that need to be fixed and or replaced.

Garfield In Her Favourite Part Of The Garden
This bench also needs to be restored/repainted/replaced. As soon as the Summer rains are over we will do that. we have had so much rain which is good for the garden, but that is about all. We had another flash flood on Thursday, again when it was time to fetch Chad. More flooded roads and this time Mark went to fetch him, because my car was getting serviced and shocks replaced and we ended up having a big fight, because he wanted to wait until the rain stopped and I did not want Chad to wait at school during the storm. Mark does not get that age means nothing to me when it comes to my children and fetching them on time at school even after going through Clint's death - he doesn't get it. To make matters worse, class ended early as the rains came down and not at the normal ridiculous time of ten to three. The class/school floods in the rain!!! It makes me so happy that our private school fees go to education and not building maintenance {read sarcasm}. How coincidental that it is only on a Thursday when Chad finishes so late that we have flash floods - Um maybe the universe is trying to tell the school that it also thinks it is ridiculous that some days they hang around doing nothing from 11.30/12 until 13.40 when the gates open (can't leave before then) then other days they leave between 2.15 and 3pm.

Dark Clouds With The Promise Of Rain
So with all this rain - it is threatening to rain now as well, it rained last night although I think it was more noise than actual rain, there has also been lots of tears and sadness. One of Clint's close friends from primary school had his car repaired last week. Having a business so close to work has its perks - no traffic; a minute from home; leaving later; fuel savings, but then it has the downfall of being so close to all the reminders of not having Clint with us. This boy has been coming to us for a year now and not being at that branch I only saw him once - now I have seen him 3 times in one week. It is so hard to believe that he is getting married next month and his Fiance has an eight year old child - that is a shocker - not because a 16 year old fell pregnant but not so long ago he was 8 and it honestly feels like yesterday that he was at our house playing little boy games. One good thing is that Clint had good well mannered friends. They were naught at school, this boy in particular was very naughty at school and it was hard to believe that Clint was friends with him at school, but it was just as hard to believe that this boy was naughty at school, because at our house he was so well mannered and such a lovely boy. He was always at our house and spent many a weekend with us. Him and Clint went to different high schools so after grade 8, they were no longer home friends, but saw each other around. Whenever we saw him he was always well mannered and polite and I remember once we saw him at a Motor Cross Event and he didn't want Mark and I to know that he smoked and hid his cigarettes away, which was quite sweet, not that we would have thought badly of it. Both my niece and Mark's niece smoked in front of us, but that is the kind of well mannered boy he was. He also apparently went off the rails after Matric and sorted himself out on his own. He was telling me the other day how he must grow up now and sell his Golf and sound system and stop messing around. To me he is still a young boy and it breaks my heart that Clint is not here to experience growing up and living his life. It is just so unfair, Life is Unfair!!!

Gardens Grownup - Garfield Goldfish

Yep, tonight's post is a mishmash of what I had planned to blog about over the past week, but I just can't get blogging during the week. I am tired, exhausted, get home late, cook, watch TV, so many reasons excuses. Chad and Mark have gone to The Nitro Circus, so the plan was to get my blog up to date as well as my 365 Project and to update my Instagram Photo A Day Challenge on my Blog. It is 10pm now and have just received a message from Chad that they are leaving now - not sure if it is the stadium or the parking area, but they are on there way back and I have done none of the above. So this post might not even be posted tonight. When they left this afternoon, I went to have a lie down as I fell asleep Chad sent me a message to say they had arrived, I fell asleep and an hour and a half later I was woken up at 6pm - another message from Chad and Mark that they had arrived at the stadium. I was confused - it seems they stood in a queue for all that time - whilst I slept for an hour and 30 minutes. I am glad I never went with. The real reason why I never went with was because it was the kind of thing that Clint would have loved and I know I need to make memories with Chad, but some things will just remain Clint Memories. Sorry Chad.

FNB Stadium - Nitro Circus (From Mark's Facebook Page
The FNB Stadium looks pretty empty. (They are home now - so I will hear all about it or maybe not). No pictures because Mark's battery went flat and Chad doesn't take photos. So back to my original mishmash post. Taking my photo a day made me realise that our Garden, especially Clint's Memorial Garden was far too green and I mentioned in this post that we had no flowers in our garden so I went to buy seedlings last Sunday and on Tuesday, our gardener planted the seedlings, cleared the over growth and just worked harder than he has worked in a very long time. He has been doing "surface" gardening for months/years now and everything was overgrown. Now it is starting to look like a garden again. Mark noticed the paving around the pool was lifting, so on Wednesday Rabie lifted the paving and dug up these enormous roots from one if the trees on Clint's garden. The trees were always there the garden was just designed around the trees, because that area (next to the pool and patio) was the area of the garden where all Clint's happy memories are. It is a lovely tree, but the roots are going to end up cracking the pool and water feature, lets hope digging these monsters up helps

Roots Under The Paving
We bought more fish today, we actually went to buy two Arum Lilies to put in the pond for the fish to hide under when the predators who ate all our other fish try and eat them and we ended up buying fish. We bought four tiny little ones, one biggish one, a very pretty one, he/she is white with dark blue and red markings. Chad wanted a yellow one, which we realised on the way home, whilst studying them in the plastic bag, that it was actually a Goldfish and not a Koi. The Goldfish were in the tank next to the tiny Koi and when Chad saw the very "yellow" fish, we forgot the tank was marked Goldfish - lets hope it survives outside.  I tried to take pictures of them but they were not being good models and I am not the best of photographers.

New Fish "Acclimatizing"

Almost 7 Year Old Monster

Well he must be much older than 7 years, but we bought him almost 7 years ago - the only survivor of the 20 we bought almost 7 years ago - today 7 years ago Clinty was still alive, it feels like only yesterday.

Look At Those Eyes

The Babies Hide Under Him

Trying to take a photo of the pretty "big" blue one.

The big blue one is not nearly as big as our orange Monster, but much bigger than the tiny ones. It is really late now, so tomorrow I will post about the Grownup part of my post - it involves one of Clint's good friends and marriage - so much has happened in 7 years, but I will never move on or carry on or accept. Everyone is getting older. Garfield is also getting older - she will be 16 this year, I sometimes get her age wrong, but she was born in 1998 and we got her just after Chad turned one, he was about 16 months old when we got her and she is starting to look old - she is still the fussiest cat I have ever met. She hardly eats and if she likes something today, it doesn't mean she will like it tomorrow. She does not catch birds, mice, insects or anything like that. She does not leave out property and when she goes in the garden, she goes as far as Clint's garden - she has always known that part of the garden was special.
