Quick And Easy Night Routine

Last week I did a post on my morning routine and mentioned that I might make Makeup Mondays a weekly series on my blog. Well I have been struggling with this post today. I am not sure how I feel about it. It seems very superficial and frivolous, something that I struggle with often. I have just had a bath and whilst doing my nightly routine, I thought to myself that this is who I am, this is what I do. It is part of my journey through life and one day in the distant future, if someone says "My goodness woman, look at those wrinkles, why did you not look after your skin" My reply will be "go read my blog post dated 13 October 2014 - I tried" Only joking, but it is sort of true. I took the photo last week, so I am halfway there anyway.

1.Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes - One thing I do not believe, is that one single product can cleanse, tone and hydrate all together, BUT.... I love these cleansing wipes for removing eye makeup, especially waterproof mascara. I have used many different eye makeup removers from very expensive to reasonably priced and these are by far the best.
2. Nivea Aqua Sensation Refreshing Cleansing Gel - Just the same as my morning routine , I cannot clean my face with lotions and creams, it has to have "soap" and water. Whilst running my bath water I remove my eye makeup and then wash my face with Nivea Aqua Sensation.
3. Clicks Cleansing Sponges - as with my morning routine, after lathering and washing my face, I wipe off the soap residue with a sponge, which I replace with a new one weekly.
4. Clicks Cosmetic Cotton Pads for Toner
5. Garnier Pure Active Daily Pore Reducing Toner - After I have bathed and brushed my teeth, I wipe my face with a cotton pad soaked in Toner to remove any excess makeup; dirt and cleanser residue. I let the toner absorb into my skin whilst I put my nightie on and put body lotion on.
6. Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream - I dab eye cream around my eye socket.
7. Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream - I lavish my face and neck and d├ęcolletage with Nivea night cream. I do make sure that I wait at least 10 minutes before climbing into bed so that my face gets the cream and not my pillow.
7. Johnson's Baby Jelly (Vaseline) - I use on my lips. I used to use lip-ice lip balm and could not go 30 minutes without putting it on my lips from when I was at school, until about a year ago. I weaned myself off it and now just put a bit of Vaseline on my lips at night.

The night cream did not show up very well in the first photo, so I took this one above with my blackberry.

This is a very easy and inexpensive routine that works for me. The night cream lasts a month because I put a lot on. The toner lasts for 3 to 4 months; eye cream 3 months; face wash two months and the wipes last just under a month.

The most important thing is to never go to bed with makeup on. When I was young, I would go out, come home late and go to bed with makeup on. It is so bad for your skin - now I wish I listened and took the 10 minutes to wash off my makeup, before flopping into bed. Then again, the smoking; drinking and late nights did more than enough damage on their own.

Do you go to bed with makeup on? Do you think it damages your skin? What nightly routine do you have? Do you have any old school beauty tips - tried and tested and handed down from generation to generation?
